The Team

Mark Pizarro
Graduated on July 12th 1990 from the Royal (Dick) Veterinary School which is part of Edinburgh University and went into practice in Paddock Wood, Kent into a mainly small animal practice although there was some equine work. After gaining valuable experience there he moved to a locum job in London for several months before returning to work in Gibraltar in December 1992.

Since this he has strived to provide the best veterinary care to the community. In fourteen years of practice on average he has been on call for 330 days in every year, a more dedicated servant to the pets of Gibraltar there has never been.

Mark is your old fashioned veterinary practitioner whose wealth of knowledge and experience can be turned to almost any veterinary scenario, however he does know his limitations and where necessary or where he feels someone can do a better job he will refer clients.

Rosina Traverso
Rosina Traverso is a Veterinary Surgeon who studied in Liverpool and qualified in 1998. For the first four years of her career she worked in Norfolk, London and Reigate. This was invaluable experience as she learnt different skills, approaches and methods which she has adapted to suit her individual style. Eventually, the pull to return home was too strong and she came back to Gib in 2002. Rosina started work at the Gibraltar Vet Clinic immediately and has been working here ever since.

What Rosina loves most about the job are the extremes. She loves seeing healthy puppies coming in for their first vaccines and watching them while they grow and develop over the years. But she also enjoys the challenge of intensive care cases, complex medical cases and delicate soft tissue surgery.

Glen Sanders
Glen Sanders started working for the vet clinic back in 1993 as a dog catcher on a temporary basis. When the previous dog catcher left Glen took the job and he spent 3 months chasing the stray dogs of Gibraltar! When a vacancy for veterinary nurse arose he applied for and was successful in securing the post. He has since been promoted twice, Head nurse and then on to become Supervisor for the clinic. Glen has always been an animal lover and when he got this job he could never begin to imagine that this would become his career. Thirteen years on he is still enjoying the benefits of such a rewarding career. Now as supervisor of the kennel keepers, head nurse and IT administrator he has a varied and challenging job which is different every day. His favourite part of the job is participating in orthopaedic procedures with the veterinary surgeon and the occasional challenge that an unusually complicated operation presents.

Patricia Fuller
Patricia Fuller joined the Gibraltar veterinary Clinic in June 2002 and has been employed in the veterinary profession since 1969 and before working in Gibraltar had spent 22 years at a veterinary practice in Norfolk. Pat has always enjoyed veterinary nursing and during the final 10 years of UK practice was head nurse/and receptionist and has always been interested in behavioural modification in pets, particularly dogs, although she will also see clients who have similar problems with cats. In the past she has attended many courses and seminars and holds certificates in pet nutrition, general pet healthcare and canine and feline behaviour modification techniques. She now works mainly on reception (due to her great age!*!) although if called upon can still manage most nursing duties!! Pat really enjoys meeting clients and their pets on a day to day basis.

Mary Cumming (Matto)
Mary Cumming (Matto) has been working for The Animal Welfare Centre and The Gibraltar Veterinary for the past twelve years. She is the Practice Manager/Administrator for both Companies.

Although Mary does not work directly with animals she likes to keep in close contact with them. She finds this extremely gratifying as Mary adores animals.

Sabrina Rocca
Sabrina Rocca works as a veterinary nurse/receptionist and has been working at the Gibraltar Veterinary Clinic for the past 12 years. Sabrina adores her job and enjoys being part of the team she works with at the clinic. Her favourite part of this rewarding career is caring for the sick animals and helping them to get well again.

Elke Aldorino
Elke Aldorino joined the team at the clinic in February 2005. She started out by helping in the boarding kennels, and then moved on to nursing duties. She really enjoys working with animals especially the sick ones, who need a lot of care until they become well again. Elke also likes to find nice homes for those pets that are brought in either as strays or for re-homing. She finds this very rewarding as she watches them leave with their new families.

Rose Bossino
Rose Bossino has worked for the Gibraltar Veterinary Clinic for 21 years. Rose originally came from Ireland but settled in Gibraltar many years ago, she works as a kennel keeper caring for the pets that come in for boarding and those that are for re-homing. Rose takes great pride in her job and ensures that all the animals are happy and well cared for.

Abdeslam El Habali
Abdeslam or "ABE" as we like to call him has been with us for a few months now and as a father of 10 he has the knowledge of how to take care of the defenceless! A diligent worker and a proven jack of all trades he has made a great addition to our team. "ABE" had never worked with animals but his new career seems to fit him like a glove.
